Iron Mike joined the club when it was on a downward spiral and with them it hit rock bottom. Even though the Canucks had the talents of Mark Messier, Pavel Bure, and eventually Todd Bertuzzi Mike could not turn the team around and whip them into shape. He did however make a splash by moving players that had been long time Canucks like Kirk McLean, Trevor Linden and Martin Gelinas. Keenens talents seemed to lay off the ice, acquiring Todd Bertuzzi and Brian McCabe were among the few moves he made.
