History and Achievements
What can you say about Paval Bure. Stolen by the Canucks in the 1989 draft, they ended up being able to keep him
in the last hours before he was to go back in the draft in 1990. Luckily Igor Larionov and Brian Burke managed to
get vital documents from Russia to prove that Bure was infact eligable when the Canucks picked. Amoung his countless highlights
as a Canuck was his first NHL game where he skated like the wind carrying the puck like it was on a string. His most
memorable goal as a Canuck came in the seventh game of the 1994 playoffs agains the Calgary Flames where he took a breakaway pass
from Jeff Brown and deked around Mike Vernon to propel the Canucks onward and eventually into the Stanley Cup final.
Pavels last years as a Canuck were covered in contoversy and dispare. He was traded to the Florida Panthers along with Bret Hedican for Ed Jovanoksi, Kevin Weeks, Dave Gagne and Mike Brown. Truly Pavel was the most exciting player to dawn the Canucks colours. |
