Ryan Howard, the temp employee at Dunder Mifflin, put it best. "Dunder Mifflin's customers are dying off, and upper management is unwilling or unable to adapt." A mid-sized paper firm in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Dunder Mifflin supplies paper to local business, including Lackawanna County. Of course, they are being killed by their competition, Staples and Home Depot, but always pride themselves on their personal level of service that the big box firms just can't meet.
Dunder Mifflin's headquarters are found in New York City, NY, where
Jan used
to work.
CFO David Wallace also works there, and
before his fall from grace, Ryan also worked
there after Jim turned down a job offer to stay with Pam... oops, spoiler?
Michael turned down a a job offer too, but that was after David Wallace told him he wouldn't get the offer. Because... he's an idiot.
Dunder Mifflin recently had to downsize one of the Northeastern US branches; it was slated to be the Scranton, PA branch, but the manager of
the Stanford, CT branch, Josh, leveraged his new position at Dunder Mifflin into
a new senior management posisiton with Staples, and so Scranton absorbed Stanford. However, of the 5 employees
that came from Stanford, only one (Andy) is left:
Martin - After Michael found out that Josh had hired reformed convict Martin (who is black), he decided to let
the entire office know that he trusted him despite his past. As Michael said, "Why did it have to be a black guy? I wish Josh had made
a more liberal choice... like a white guy... who went to prison... for polluting a black guys' lake."
Hannah breast fed at work too much, and when Creed snapped a boob shot, it proved to be too much for her.
Tony was about 500 lbs, and Michael tried to force him to climb onto a table so that he could prove that the new
Stanford employees were on the same level as the rest of the Scranton employees (which means, they should have all been sitting or standing on the
table together).
Karen dated Jim for quite a while, but then left Dunder Mifflin after realizing Jim was in love with Pam still... she is
now at Dunder Mifflin Utica, as Regional Manager.
