Contemplation

Hope gives us a little push to urge us to keep going. If were just let ourselves believe that we could never achieve something, how depressing the world would be. Hopefulness sees us through the bad times. It is our hope which lets us see those bad times as a time that may soon end in light. It lets us be strong and determined even when all odds seem to be against us. It is hope that sometimes lets us defy the odds.

An example of the world without hope. Hope was personified in Greek mythology as Elpis. When Pandora opened Pandora's Box, she let out all the evils except one: Hope. Apparently the Greeks considered Hope to be as dangerous as all the world's evils. But without hope to accompany all their troubles, humanity was filled with despair. It was a great relief when Pandora revisited her box and let out hope as well.
